About Harriet

I create to bridge what I see with what I feel deep within. Layers, luminous colors and richly textural elements are my starting points and pulse through everything I create.

My process is tactile and deeply intuitive - a conversation between my hands and the materials that call to me. Besides painting with acrylics, I print, layer and build surfaces. Painted papers and fabric find their way in too, torn and placed with both intention and spontaneity. Like a jazz musician following the moment, I embrace improvisation as part of my practice.  There is a call and response between my materials and my instincts.

Drawing came naturally to me as a child - a language I didn’t have to learn so much as to remember. But when I discovered painting, something ignited.  Teaching art and traveling opened me to the rich visual cultures of the world, making me more receptive, more empathetic - shaped by the beauty of others.

My expressive body of work continues to grow, spanning botanicals, abstracts and contemporary landscapes - each carrying its own emotional weight.

The story behind my brand name is one of accidental magic: pregnant with my second child, I asked my four year old daughter what we should name the baby. She declared without hesitation “LAMPPOST!”  We did not name our son lamppost but the word never left me. In 2021. With the encouragement of my wonderful family, Lamppost Press was finally born.

As you browse through my catalogue, I hope you find something that truly speaks to you.
